The Nuts, Dried Fruit and Snacks Empire

The Empire group of companies is based in Midrand, South Africa with a branch in Cape Town. The business was established in 2005 and has since grown to one of the largest and most diverse edible nut and dried fruit businesses in South Africa.
This (family) business is built on long term and sustainable relationships with its suppliers and customers.

BUSINESS UNITS
This diverse group consists of the following business units:

1.    Bulk Sourcing
Products are sourced from across the world (including South Africa). These products are wholesaled to local processors, which includes Empire’s own processing business unit.
Reputable suppliers are used to ensure consistent quality.
A modern warehouse (which includes cold storage facilities) and fast stock turnover ensures that products reach the client in prime condition. The company also prides itself on availability of stock.

2.    Processing and Retail
This business unit processes and packs for the retail market with state of the art processing facilities. Its clients include major retailers and distributors.
The facility is FSSC 22000 certified. This certification includes the well-known HACCP certification, but requires even more stringent food manufacturing and safety procedures, allowing our clients to guarantee their own supply chain.

3.    Exports
Empire started exporting in 2008. The growth of the South African nut industry (macadamias, pecans and walnuts) assisted the strong growth that we experienced. Due to a growing need from our customers for a diversified basket, dried fruit was also added to our list of export products. We are further willing to supply a customer with a mixed container of products and for smaller customers we even supply pallets of products of their choice.
The group is also sourcing product from various other countries since 2010 and is steadily expanding this service to its customers.
Reputable processors are used to process the products for clients across the world.

WE AIM TO BE A ONE STOP SHOP

For our Growers

Due to weather conditions and other factors, there are always different grades of product on offer from growers. The problem that they often face is that buyers are only interested in the “pick of the crop”. With a large customer base and through experience we developed innovative ideas to find suitable markets for the full product range of our growers.

For our Clients
Empire exports a wide range of products:
•    This brings the convenience of one stop shopping to our clients
•    We also export mixed containers (and even pallets for our smaller clients)
